Quit Daydreaming and get back to work

I read a quote in a Stephen King book a few months back that has stuck with me. It's something like:

"Wish into one hand
Shit into the other
See which one fills up first"

Why does that make me smile? I'm still waiting for the right opportunity to use it...

My college boyfriend, Greg, used to say that all the time. It used to piss me off.

But that was one of the less objectionable things he did. But those are stories for another day.

you could definately use it when I say, "Steakbellie I wish you would take out the trash, run the vacuum, empty the dishwasher, etc"

we used to say this when I was in the military.... it was one of those lovely motivational things, when anyone would bitch about something that had to get done:

"Gee, I wish we didn't have to empty the trash. I wish we had a maid."

"Wish in one hand, shit in the other... see which one gets full faster," would come the reply.

Generally, it was used to subdue whining. Occasionally it worked.
