Table 3 - Hilton Hotel - Islen, New Jersey 2007 (American Sonnet)

you know in New Jersey
the bride and the groom
are still introduced
to Bon Jovi's 'Livin on a Prayer'

they are so young
and so in love
you cant help but
stand on your chair and yell

if we could dance to
'Thunder Road'
we would

take my hand
we'll make it
I swear

I love weddings. With or without Bon Jovi and Springsteen.

I love this sonnet.

I'm so happy you guys like this one. I didnt have any time to really craft it but I needed to get it out on the blog.

In all seriousness, because you never know how to take comments when they're written, rather than spoken, your creativity constantly amazes me. From comedy to philosophy, I never know what I'll find when I drop in and I love that.

This is awesome...and I'd love to read the bigger version.

Ladylenore,
Thats an awfully sweet thing to say.

The original version was still only 14 lines but each line was much more burdened down and longer. Here I was trying to juxtapose the New Jersian Oddities to the sweetness and hope that we all feel when your baby cousin gets Married. The bigger version tried to include some of the family disfunction (ok ALOT of it) and I think it was maybe too much.

I may write another one using that as source material but not for a week or so when I get back from VACATION!!!

Thanks for all the kind words. I'm sometimes shocked at which posts inspire a response and which dont!
