PROOF that you never hear the one that gets you

Nasty nasty weather with the rain turned to snow and high winds.

Walking to my office building, I found out about a graprefruit size chunk of ice that blew off a 40 story building, when it impacted between my feet.

How it missed my enourmous head, I'll never know.

It hit pretty hard, and I'm certain would have knocked me out!

Geez. What if that had been a piano?!

I've been up since 3am and really groggy so it didnt freak me out too much.

I felt the vibrations through the concrete as it impacted. Looked up and saw a whole bunch more coming down, and stepped a few feet into the street.

If it was a piano I'd be zooming up and down like an accordian right now like they do in cartoons!

I think I would have cancelled the workday and gone for mojitos or some other fancy thing in a nice hot bathtub, with some trashy magazines followed by court TV.

Glad you are OK, living to eat another day.

Same thing happened to me while going into the lodge while snowboarding a few months back. I, for reasons unknown, went a bit out of my way to go through the actual entrance instead of cutting off the corner of the entryway and a sheet of snow about 2 feet thick and about 10x10 fell off just as I would have been passing under it. It probably weighed 2 tons. DH heard it from the parking lot and we just stared at each other all wide-eyed. Would have broken my neck! So, I went for a beer. ...ANY excuse for a beer, mind you.
