i think i need to be more specific with my generalizations. This isnt true in Philly either.
This IS true in NYC, at the Port Authority and at NY Penn Station, during rush hours, especially during the years 1999-2000. Go there at that time (and year) and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Not true at the D.C. Metro station escalators.
